Meeting sessions

Add public or private sessions and create the transition items between them.

Lesson summary

What this lesson covers

Meetings begin with one public session, but you can add public or private sessions when the agenda requires them. ClerkDirect can automatically add the standard recess, reconvene, and motions-arising transition items, while each session keeps its own agenda for the live meeting.

Okay. Quick note about meeting sessions before we get into the live meeting. So again, on the Agenda tab here in your meeting screen, we have a sidebar for sessions, and you default to having one session, which is public.

If you want to add another session, like an in-room or a closed session, you can click this plus button here. You can select your session type, private or public, and give it a name. We'll call this Closed Session. You can add some details about the session, and you also have the option to add transition items to your main session's agenda. So that will add a recess, reconvene, and motions arising to the public session here. So I'm going to leave that checked, and then we will create the session.

And you can see here on the sidebar, we now have, in addition to this public session, a private session with no agenda created for it yet. If I go back to our original agenda, we'll collapse these. You can see down at the bottom here we have new items: motion to recess to private session, motion to reconvene, and motions arising from private session. There's also a motion that has been created in here that's causing you to recess. And you can edit all of these, but this is meant to be a convenient way of doing some boilerplate when you enter a private session.

And if I just go in here, I can create an item for discussion, just a little example, and we will see how these sessions show up in the live meeting view, which we are going to talk about right now.
